The Coca-Cola cup which played between three countries; India, Australia and New Zealand is best known for the Desert Storm match between India and Australia.
India had won just one match against New Zealand in the whole tournament before this game. The qualification between India and New Zealand had now come down to the net run rate. In the sixth match between India and Australia in Sharjah, Sachin scored a blistering 143 runs off 131 balls.
During the game, a sandstorm disrupted the play. India, however, lost the match by 26 runs; they managed to qualify for the finals, kudos to the heroics of Sachin. Later, India eventually went onto win the final as well, as another century by Sachin Tendulkar wrecked havoc.
It was during this tournament that Shane Warne had claimed he had nightmares of bowling to Tendulkar after being dominated by him throughout the tournament.
