Eden Gardens has produced some of the most memorable moments in Indian cricket. Playing in front of a jam-packed Eden Gardens is something cricketers all over the world dream. Eden has given India some great players along with great memories. Harbhajan Singh’s Hat-trick in the 2001 series against Australia made him a household name. His hat-trick gave India its biggest victory over the Aussies in cricket.

In India’s second ODI against Australia on Thursday, Kuldeep Yadav picked up another Hat-trick at Eden Garden’s. This hat-trick gave Indians a flashback of what Harbhajan did on this ground 16 years ago. Apart from these two hat-tricks, Kapil Dev also picked up a hat-trick on the same ground in 1991 against Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup.

Harbhajan Singh posted a picture on Twitter which had pictures of all the three players who picked up a hat-trick at the famous ground and wrote, “THANK YOU EDEN GARDEN @BCCI”. Kuldeep’s hat-trick on Thursday brought a sense of nostalgia to Harbhajan who rose to fame after his hat-trick at Edens.

In 1991, India and Sri Lanka reached the final of the Asia Cup, and Sri Lanka was batting first. Kapil Dev picked up the wickets of Roshan Mahanama, Rumesh Ratnayake and Sanath Jayasuriya in consecutive deliveries. India eventually went on to win the match by seven wickets and also won the Asia Cup.

2001’s Australia’s tour of India is best known for the Test match played at Eden Garden’s which India won after being behind in the Test and were forced to follow-on. Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman’s heroics with the bat were equally matched by Harbhajan’s exceptional spell of spin bowling which included a hat-trick. His victims were Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, and Shane Warne.

Kuldeep Yadav picked up the wickets of Matthew Wade, Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins in consecutive deliveries. India took a lead of 2-0 in the series with the next match to be played in Indore on Sunday.
