IND vs AUS 2017: Harsha Bhogle Set to Return to Commentary Box 1

Harsha Bhogle is all set to make his comeback on Star network, as the veteran commentator has been included in the commentary panel for the upcoming series between India and Australia. The news was confirmed by Bhogle himself as he wrote,

Once a permanent member of commentary box, Bhogle was surprisingly dropped from the commentary panel for IPL 2016. He was continuously ignored and only made a comeback in April 2017 after the removal of the previous crop of BCCI.

As per the report, few of the players had complained to the board regarding Bhogle’s comment made while commentating and the board dropped him soon after the end of T20 World Cup 2016.

The matter came to the notice when veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan took social media and blamed one commentator of being biased. It could have been an end to the story, but MS Dhoni, the then Indian skipper, joined the chorus and backed the actor. Harsha Bhgole was the man who was pointed out by these two, though indirectly, but it was enough for the board to drop Bhogle from the commentary box.

However, as soon as the Committee of Administrators (COA) came into existence, they called back Bhogle for IPL 2017. Still, his name was missing from the panel of commentators for the ICC Champions Trophy.

Finally, he made his international comeback for India’s tour of West Indies, which was televised on Sony network. He was retained for Sri Lanka series as well and later got included in BCCI’s list of commentators. Though he was yet to commentate on Star network and now, it has been confirmed that he will commentate on this network as well.

The India-Australia limited-over series will start on September 17 with the first game to be played Chennai. Kolkata, Indore, Bengaluru, and Nagpur will host the four ODIs, respectively followed by three T20Is in Ranchi, Guwahati and Hyderabad.
