IND vs AUS 2017: Indore and Nagpur ODI’s to be Swapped
Australia is set to tour India next month for a five-match ODI series and a T20 series.
The series is just three weeks away, and the BCCI is still unable to decide the cities where they will host the matches. BCCI has, however, unofficially decided Chennai (17th September), Kolkata (21st September), Nagpur (24th September), Bengaluru (28th September) and Indore (1st October) to be the five locations.
According to the reports, the Indore and Nagpur ODI’s will be swapped, as Indore has some logistical issues. Even though the BCCI hasn’t made any official statement regarding it, the associations have been informed internally. A Vidarbha cricket official said,
“BCCI CEO Rahul Johri got in touch and informed that we will host the fifth match instead of the third because Indore has problems. We have been informally told that we will host the match on October 1 instead of September 24,”
It is also learnt that Bengaluru and Kolkata have also swapped their respective ODI’s due to some logistical reasons. The official added,
“They are still to receive an official mail. It can be remembered that changes had already been made, with Kolkata and Bengaluru swapping matches. While it’s not unusual to see this happen because of logistical reasons, what is surprising is the official silence. Normally, three weeks before a series, venues are finalised and announced. Johri or BCCI General Manager MV Sridhar could not be contacted.”
Australia lost the Test series 3-1 earlier this year against India. So they will be in India for the limited-overs series this time. Last time when two behemoths of the game clashed for a bilateral limited-over series in India, it was MS Dhoni’s men who won it by 3-2.
