IND Vs AUS 2017: Third T20I Called Off; Trophy Shared By Both The Teams
Oct 13, 2017 at 9:12 PM
The T20I series between India and Australia ended in a tie as the final match of the T20 series was called off without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield. The match was called off after the match officials deemed the outfield to be dangerous for a match. The two teams -India and Australia- will share the trophy. The Australian players will now head back and will prepare for the upcoming Ashes which is scheduled to begin from 23rd November. India, on the other hand, has a long home season ahead and will prepare for the limited overs series against New Zealand which begins on 22nd October.
India won the first T20 by nine wickets via D/L method as rain interrupted play after 18 overs of the Australian innings. Australia scored 118/8 in 18 overs when the rain came and played spoilsport. India was then set a target of 48 in six overs which the men in blue achieved in 5.3 overs losing the only Rohit Sharma’s wicket. In the first innings, Aaron Finch was the only bright spot in the Australian batting line up as he tops scored with 42 runs. The second top score in the innings was 17, Maxwell and Tim Paine. Kuldeep Yadav was adjudged the man of the match for picking up two wickets and giving away just 16 runs in his four overs.
The second T20 was a low scoring affair as India was bundled out for 118 in 20 overs and Australia won the match by eight wickets. Jason Behrendroff caused havoc in the first over of the match removing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Kedhar Jadhav was the top scorer for the Indian team as he scored 27 runs. Hardik Pandya also scored 25 runs but was not able to consolidate on the start. Jason Behrendroff picked up the top four wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey. The other bowlers equally helped him. Adam Zampa was the most economical bowler for the Aussies.
Australia chased down the target in just 15.3 overs courtesy a 109 runs partnership between Moises Henriques and Travis Head. Henriques scored 62 of 46 deliveries and Head scored 48 runs in 34 balls.
