- Adam Gilchrist – 1622 runs:
Known to be a nightmare for all bashers, standing third on this list of most runs for an Australian against India is former opener cum wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist.
Like his opening partner Hayden, Gilchrist too had a definite panache for the Indian bowlers and loved taking them to the cleaners. Averaging 36.86 against India in 46 appearances, the most striking ability about Gilly’s numbers lie in his strike rate.
Having played all his cricket in an era that was far from being as batting friendly as the current era, Gilly still struck 99.26 runs per 100 deliveries. More than just his average or century count though, it was this sector which made him an absolute genius.
