IND vs AUS 2017: Virat Kohli Commands Respect in Indian Dressing Room – Ravi Shastri
India coach Ravi Shastri has insisted that Virat Kohli has evolved magnificently both as a player and captain and commands great respect from everyone in the Indian dressing room, in an exclusive interview with India Today.
The 28-year-old has been one of the best players in world cricket at the moment across formats. He has also managed to lead the side wonderfully helping India reach No.1 ranking in Tests. The team also achieved a perfect a 9-0 result against Sri Lanka in their recent away series in the Island nation.
“Virat has evolved magnificently as a player and captain. He is confident and commands great respect from everyone in the team,” Shastri told India Today’s, Boria Majumdar.
“Everyone wants to emulate Virat. He has such strong work ethic, and with the position he is in, there is no room for excuses. The next three years will define Virat,” Shastri said.
The Delhi player has set new standards in cricket with his incredible fitness, as he puts a lot of effort to stay fit for the games. Despite becoming the captain and taking extra responsibility of leading the side, Virat did not show any signs of lack of form due to the added pressure.
He recently became the first player to hit four double hundreds in four consecutive Test series. He is also rated as the No.1 batsman in both ODIs and T20Is at the moment.
Virat Kohli had amassed an impressive 330 runs in the recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka. He also managed to reach his 30th ODI century in the process levelling the record of Ricky Ponting and only behind Sachin Tendulkar, who has 49 ODI hundreds to his name.
Virat Kohli will now lead India in one of the most prestigious ODI series in the home season against Australia which begins on September 17.
