New match, new venue, new format but the script remained the same, and the players’ reaction, especially Yuzvendra Chahal’s told the whole story as the leg-spinner dismissed Glenn Maxwell once again in the ongoing first T20I at Ranchi.
The India spinner had sent back Maxwell thrice in the preceding One-Day International series and did not take long to dismiss him once again. Maxwell, promoted up in the batting order due to Steven Smith’s absence, came to the crease early after David Warner was sent back by Bhuvneshwar Kumar cheaply.
However, due to Aaron Finch’s aggressive batting, Australia managed to recover from the shaky start and post 49 runs after the end of the powerplay.
Finch had raced to 29 off just 18 while Maxwell was struggling at 13 off 11 before India skipper Virat Kohli handed the ball to Chahal. The move paid off immediately, as Maxwell, after hitting the second ball for a four, pulled one straight to Jasprit Bumrah at the mid-wicket, much to the delight of Chahal who could not contain his laughter.
