ToggleAfter the end of the three-match home T20I series against Sri Lanka, India are now preparing to face Australian cricketers on the soil for the three-match ODI series. India and Australia will play this ODI series from 14th January to 19th January.
With India on the winning streak since 2019, it will be difficult for Australia to take a lead in the upcoming limited-overs series. Meanwhile, the opener Rohit Sharma will be back in the team after resting from the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
It will be good to see him back with the team while Australia will be laced with their own power-packed duo, David Warner and Steven Smith. In the present ICC ODI rankings, India are in the no.2 position and Australia are in the no.4 spot.
However, below are the three talking points of the upcoming ODI assignments between India and Australia.
Three Talking Points of India vs Australia 2020 ODI series:
The current form of Rishabh Pant
The young wicketkeeper-batsman has been under the team selectors’ radar ever since MS Dhoni took a sabbatical break from the international cricket. However, Rishabh Pant has not been able to perform for a long time with both, the bat and the gloves. His inconsistent performances put more questions on his sustainability.
However, the 22-year-old performed exceptionally during the West Indies tour of India in late 2019. While Pant scored an unbeaten 33 runs in the second T20I, he made a stunning half-century in the ODI opener against the visiting Caribbean. In the second ODI of that series, Pant scored 39 runs off 16 balls in the crucial death overs.
Thereafter, Pant will still be the talk of the game during Australia touring India for the ODI series.
