Former England captain Michael Vaughan has taken a brutal dig at the Indore pitch where the third Test between India and Australia is currently underway at the Holkar Stadium.
The first session of the Test took the cricket world by surprise as India suffered an almighty collapse after winning the toss and deciding to bat first. With the pitch offering huge turn and uneven bounce, India’s batsmen fell like a pack of cards.
Even before the fans could settle down in the stands, half of India’s batting lineup had returned to the pavilion for just 45 runs. Matthew Kuhnemann gave Australia the first breakthrough by having Rohit stumped out and it opened the floodgates.

India kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually all out for a modest total of 109. Kuhnemann was the destructor-in-chief, taking 5 wickets for just 16 runs while Nathan Lyon claimed 3 scalps. For India, Virat Kohli’s 22 runs was the best effort with the bat.
Michael Vaughan takes a dig at pitch:
Following India’s horrendous display with the bat on the Indore pitch, the pitch has become the talk of the town once again. And Michael Vaughan has also reacted to it, albeit in his usual humorous manner.
Soon after India were all out for just 109, the Ashes-winning captain took to Twitter to have some laugh at the expense of Nathan Lyon and the pitch. He began by sarcastically praising Lyon for collecting the ball and running Mohammed Siraj out.
Lyon had famously failed to grab the ball to run out Jack Leach during the Headingley Test in 2019 when Australia needed one wicket to win. Vaughan then took a dig at the pitch too as he wrote:
“Nice to see Nathan Lyon gather the ball for a run out at the bowling end ??? #INDvAUS .. btw .. it’s a very poor 5 day pitch but it’s great viewing .. ??”
