Australia’s left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann has revealed a hilarious conversation he had with his Indian counterpart Ravindra Jadeja. The spinner was initially not a part of the squad for the ongoing four-match series before Australia added him to the squad just before the second Test in Delhi.
In his maiden Test in India, he picked up 2 wickets including that of Virat Kohli. And on Wednesday (March 1), he justified the faith shown in him by the Australian selectors and team-management with a career-best spell. The 26-year old blew India away to put Australia in a strong position.
He picked up 5 wickets for just 16 runs, dismissing Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav. Thanks to his stunning spell, Australia bowled out India for a paltry 109. The visitors then went on to finish the day on 156 for 4 to put themselves in the driver’s seat.
Matthew Kuhnemann reveals conversation with Ravindra Jadeja:
Addressing the media after the day’s play, Matthew Kuhnemann left everyone in splits with his story about Ravindra Jadeja. The Australia spinner revealed that the India star came up with a hilarious reply after he asked for some advice from him.
“I said, have you got any tips for me after the last Test? He said ‘yes, at the end of the series’,” Matthew Kuhnemann told the media.
Speaking further, Kuhnemann expressed his admiration for Jadeja as well as Ravichandran Ashwin, saying that he is a big fan of both the India stalwarts.
“The way he uses his crease and probably the biggest thing I picked up in Delhi is that he brings his length back a little bit when the ball gets older. That’s probably the main thing I took out of the second Test and brought into this Test, probably my length. Don’t want to get full, especially on a wicket that stays low, being consistent on that 5-6 metre length,” he said.
“I’m a massive fan of Jadeja and Ashwin so watched how they have bowled in the last few years,” he added.
Meanwhile, India have already taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series and another win will be enough for them to register their fourth straight Test series win over Australia.
