Former India batsman Wasim Jaffer has brutally trolled Australia over their obsession with Indian pitches following their heavy defeat in the just-concluded first Test at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur.

Team India thrashed the world number one Test side by an innings and 132 runs inside three days to take the lead in the four-match series. On a pitch where India scored 400 runs in their first innings, Australia could not even cross the 200-run mark in either of the two innings.

In the first innings, they were all out for a paltry 177. Marnus Labuschagne was the only player who managed to cross the 40-run mark while seven players could not even touch the double-digit mark. Ravindra Jadeja was the star with the ball in the first innings with a five-wicket haul.

Australia then conceded a 223-run lead before coming up with yet another horrible batting performance in the second innings. India bowled them out for just 91 inside one session to wrap up the game inside three days. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 5 wickets while Jadeja and Mohammed Shami picked up 2 apiece.

Wasim Jaffer trolls Australia:

Following Australia’s humiliating defeat in Nagpur, Wasim Jaffer rubbed salt on their wounds by posting a couple of tweets. The former cricketer took shots at Australian team-management and media’s obsession with pitches in India.

Before the start of the series, the Australian media made sure that the focus remained on pitch and even accused India of doctoring the pitches. Taking a brutal dig at Australia, Wasim Jaffer wrote: “Never judge a pitch until both teams have batted on it. If both teams struggle, it’s the pitch. If just one team struggles, it’s the skills. Well played Team India.”

He also posted a meme to have some fun at Australia’s expense:
