While India are yet to seal their spot in the final of the ICC World Test Championship, skipper Rohit Sharma has hinted that the team has already started planning for it.

Rohit Sharma & Co. need to win one of the remaining two Tests in the ongoing series against Australia to book their place in the WTC final for the second time in a row. As of now, India are on the second spot behind Australia.

Ahead of the third Test in Indore, Rohit Sharma, on Tuesday (February 28), hinted that the pitch for the 4th Test could have a green tinge in order to simulate English conditions. The final of the WTC is scheduled to be played later this year at the Oval in London.

Rohit Sharma on Ahmedabad pitch:

Speaking ahead of the third Test in Indore, Rohit Sharma said that while the team’s focus is firmly on winning the penultimate game of the series, they have already discussed about having a pacer-friendly wicket in Ahmedabad.

“It will be a different ball game (facing Australia in England) for both teams, actually. There is definitely a possibility of that (Ahmedabad as preparatory game for WTC final). We have already spoken about it. We need to get the guys ready for it,” Rohit Sharma said.

“The important one is Shardul Thakur, because he comes into the planning for us. We don’t know how ready he is since he has just got married (laughs). We don’t know how many overs he has bowled. But that thought process is definitely there.

“If we get the result we want here (Indore), we might think of doing something different in Ahmedabad for sure. But we are not there yet. We have to win this game and then talk about it. That’ll be the right thing to do. You are never in on these wickets,” he added.

India have already taken an unassailable lead in the series by winning the first two Tests. The hosts have also retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the third time in a row. The team will now be looking to win the series and book their place in the WTC final.
