Team India will be looking to take an unassailable lead in the ongoing four-match Test series when they take on Australia in the second game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The hosts are leading the series after winning the first Test at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur by an innings and 132 runs. Australia proved no match for the home side in Nagpur as they flopped with both bat and ball. The Rohit Sharma-led side bowled out the world number one Test side for just 177 after losing the toss.

Rohit then scored a classy century to help his team pile up a big total of 400 in their first innings. In the second innings, Australia once again flopped with the bat to concede the match inside three days. India bowled the Aussies out for just 91 inside a session to take the lead in the series.

The home side will now be looking to continue their winning run in Delhi. A win here will not only help them take an unassailable lead in the series but also retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India vs Australia – Toss report:

Australia have won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

Captains’ quotes:

Pat Cummins:

“We’ll bat first. The middle looks like there’s grass but bare at both ends. Plenty of turn there, will be a good Test. Cam Green and Mitch Starc aren’t playing, but we’ve got Travis Head coming in for Renshaw, and Matthew Kuhnemann makes his debut.”

Rohit Sharma:

“I’d have batted first as well. The pitch is dry, but I think the application we showed last game put the toss away from the game. You just have to come out and play good cricket, and that’s been the chat in the group to not worry about the toss. Absolutely, we are all thrilled for him (on Cheteshwar Pujara playing his 100th Test), his family is here as well.”
