Team India forced to stay at new hotel:

Team India’s sojourn in Delhi did not start on the best of notes as they were forced to stay at a hotel where they do not stay normally. When in capital, Team India normally stays at the ITC Maurya or the Taj Palace.

Team India, however,  have been forced to stay at Hotel Leela in Noida for the upcoming Test. As per media reports, the players were not happy with their stay in Hotel Leela.

And the reason behind the team not staying in their usual location is the ongoing G20 summit as well as the marriage season. According to a report from The Times of India, the summit and the wedding season has led to a paucity of bulk hotel rooms in five star facilities across Delhi. As a result, the team had to find a hotel in Noida.

Calling the stay in Hotel Leela as an unavoidable situation, a BCCI official told the news outlet: “The hotel is fantastic and facilities are nice. It’s an unavoidable situation and hence the shift.”

Meanwhile, star batsman Virat Kohli has been staying at his home in Gurugram after the team arrived in Delhi. The former India skipper has taken permission from the team-management to stay at his home for a couple of days. He will join his teammates at the hotel from Thursday, a day before the second Test gets underway.
