ToggleWhile Team India have maintained their position at the second spot in the ICC World Test Championship Points Table (ICC WTC Points Table), they missed the chance to qualify for the WTC final following the 9-wicket loss against Australia in the just-concluded third Test in Indore.
Chasing 76 to win, Australia lost Usman Khawaja for a duck on the very second ball of the day. However, Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne did not let the hosts capitalise on it. They initially decided against playing their shots before opening their arms once they were well settled. In the end, the visitors crossed the finishing line in the 19th over.
Earlier in the match, Australia bowled out India for a paltry 109 in the first innings. Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first and it did not take him long to regret his decision. India lost as many as 7 wickets in the very first session and were bowled out just after lunch.

Left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann picked up 5 wickets while Nathan Lyon grabbed 3. In reply, Australia rode on Usman Khawaja’s fifty to score 197 runs and take a lead of 88 runs. India’s batting performance in the second innings was not impressive either.

Barring Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored a fighting fifty, no other batsmen could last long on the tough pitch as Lyon ran riot. The Australia spin spearhead picked up 8 wickets to help his team bowl out India for 163.
