Virat Kohli’s poor run in the ongoing four-match Test series against Australia continued on Sunday (February 19) as he failed to score big in the second Test too.
The right-handed batsman recently ended his century drought in international cricket by smashing centuries in T20I and ODIs. His century drought in Tests, however, is yet to end. And the drought has extended further after his failure to reach the triple-digit mark in the recently-concluded second Test.

The former India skipper has not scored a century in the longest format of the game since scoring 136 against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in 2019.

He started the ongoing series against Australia with a poor score. Virat Kohli batted just once in the first Test at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur as India registered an innings victory. In India’s first innings, the right-handed batsman managed to score only 12.

A lot was being expected from Virat Kohli when he walked out to bat twice in the Delhi Test. However, the local boy just could not live up to the expectations. In the first innings, a controversial decision from the umpire ended his knock. Before departing, Virat Kohli looked in good touch as he departed for 44.

His fortune did not change in the second innings either as he could score only 20 before Todd Murphy ended his stay at the crease. Kohli was stumped while trying to defend. And the dismissal has ended his incredible run in Test cricket – Prior to the latest dismissal, he was never out stumped in the longest format of the game in his 106-Test career.

Meanwhile, India beat Australia by 6 wickets in the second Test to take an unassailable lead in the 4-match series. The win has also helped India retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
