Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has showered praise on his teammates after the 6-win over Australia in the recently-concluded second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Just like the first Test, the hosts won the second Test inside three days too. When day three began on Sunday (February 19), Australia were slightly ahead of Team India. Australia had taken a 1-run lead after bowling out India for 262 before starting well with the bat.
At the start of day 3, the visitors were well placed at 61 for 1 before Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ran through their line-up. Jadeja picked up 7 wickets while Ashwin picked up 3 as Australia lost their remaining 9 wickets inside the first session to be all out for just 113.

Rohit Sharma leads India to unassailable lead:
Chasing 114, India crossed the finishing line without too many troubles. They did lose wickets at crucial intervals but eventually chased down the total without facing too many difficulties. Following the win, Rohit Sharma was all praise for his teammates.
“Fantastic result for us. Looking at how things were yesterday, the way we came back and finished our job was great. Even if we were just one run behind, I felt we were trailing because we had to bat last. I think the bowlers were fantastic, to take 9 wickets today morning is commendable. And then we finished the job with the bat,” Rohit Sharma said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Speaking further, the India skipper opened up on his team’s plans to counter the visitors on day three. Rohit stated that the team focused on just hitting the right areas and were looking to capitalise on the mistakes of the Australian players.
“On a pitch like this, people need to do something different. We were prepared for them coming out and playing shots. Our idea was to not panic and just hit the right areas, waiting for the mistake to happen and that’s exactly what happened.
Every game you play in this type of weather, there is some moisture. What I noticed is there is a lot to offer in the first session, but as it goes on it gets slower and there isn’t enough bite. So our focus was keeping it tight in the morning, and these guys are the masters of bowling in these conditions,” said Rohit Sharma.

When Rohit was further asked about the game-changing moment in the Test, he said: “There are lot of moments across four innings, but I thought the partnership between Jadeja and Virat, and then Axar-Ash was brilliant. I think that’s a big help because of the balance we have created for ourselves.”
