Australian Veteran opener David Warner will be examined by Australian medical staff before the start of the ODI series against India starting on March 17. Warner arrived in India on Wednesday morning and will join the team’s practice session soon.

The southpaw was ruled out of the second Test in Delhi due to concussion before an elbow injury ruled him out of the remainder of the four-match series. Australia will without the services of Pat Cummins for the ODI series, who lost his beloved mother very recently. Steve Smith will be leading Australia in the three-match ODI series in India.

“They will look at Dave in Mumbai for game one and make a call from there,” a team spokesman said.

Speaking to the media, Australia head coach Andrew McDonald said that Warner has recovered very well, so they hope that will play for Australia in the 1st ODI.

“He’s recovered from his injury, so we’ll see Dave back in Australian colors on the 17th and we’ll go from there,” McDonald said.

David Warner is going through a rough patch in test cricket and the calls for his retirement in the longer formats have increased. In his last 15 Tests innings, he has crossed the 50-run score just once which was the double century against South Africa.

David Warner Is Still In Our Plans For World Test Championship – Andrew McDonald

Australian coach Andrew McDonald admitted that David Warner is still very much in the plans for the World Test Championship Finals against India. The left-handed batsman has not managed to live up to the reputation in Tests in the last couple of years or so.

McDonald added the 36-year-old is still in the plans for Australia for WTC 2023. David Warner managed to score only 26 runs in three outings in the Border Gavaskar Trophy and the cricketing fraternity has been highly critical of David Warner in recent times and has constantly urged the team management to drop him from the team.

But at the moment Dave’s fully in our plans for the World Test Championship, he’s coming back for the one-day series, he’s recovered from his injury there, so we’ll see Dave back in Australian colors on the 17th and we’ll go from there.”

It remains unknown whether Warner will be part Australian team in England. The last time Australia went to England for the Ashes in 2019, the southpaw batter had a disastrous outing.
