Star Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin heaped a praise on Cameron Green as once in a generation cricketer and hailed him for his terrific century against India. Green played a counter-attacking 114-run knock to help Australia post a mammoth total.
Ravichandran Ashwin who was the star performer for India in the 1st innings picked up 6 wickets, speaking to Broadcaster on Day 2, said the IPL auction is a sample of how much people rate him in the cricketing circuit, Green was acquired by the Mumbai Indians for ₹17.5 crores.
Ashwin further continued that Cameron Green is a work in progress and that he has all the ability to be the superstar of cricket and added that he is once a generation player.
“I hope you tuned into the IPL auction. It just tells you how the Indian cricket fraternity rates Cameron Green, I think he is a fantastic player. Just the raw material he has, tall, lovely levers, good batting sense, can hit the deck hard while bowling, moves pretty well; these are once-in-a-generation cricketers that you are talking about,”

Ashwin reckoned that countries like England and Australia protect these types of all-rounders who offer three-dimensional ability in all three formats by managing their workload and admitted that India is to more like the players need to perform or perish and added he excepts Cameron Green to be an excellent cricketer in the future.
“However, we come from different countries, and India is very different. We can’t protect such players for longer periods. It is performed or perishes (in India). In countries like Australia and England, these cricketers are groomed pretty well. Expect Cameron Green to be a wonderful cricketer down the line,” Ashwin said.
England’s Ben Stokes and Australia’s Cameron Green are protected by their management for important matches, whereas India star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has so far played only 11 matches in red-ball cricket and has not been part of Indian setup due to injury concerns.

“Every time we’ve seen him, he gets better and better, What’s been more impressive is the tempo he’s played at. He’s come and taken the game on. He hasn’t missed an opportunity to score, so his mindset’s all about looking to score, not just occupying the crease,” he added.
Cameron Green was injured for the first two games of the Test match and made his comeback from the injury in the third Test in Indore which Australia won. Australia will look to win the final and fourth test to draw the series.
