Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has been critical of the Indian team management for leaving Sanju Samson out of India’s squad for three-match ODI series against Australia. Tharoor also took a dig at Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid for backing KL Rahul.

The Kerala batter failed to make it to the unit as KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan were retained as the wicketkeepers for the Australia ODI series. Following the squad announcement, many experts and fans slammed the selectors for not selecting Samson for the team. Shashi Tharoor who has been supporting Sanju Samson expressed his disappointment over India’s squad for Australia.

And what about @IamSanjuSamson? Averaging 76 (66) in ODIs and yet again omitted from the ODI squad against Australia. It’s all very well to give non-performers a long rope but surely not at the expense of talented performers?” Tharoor wrote.

Samson last played for the Indian team in the opening T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka. However, the wicketkeeper-batter was ruled out only after the first game owing to an unfortunate knee injury. Samson has scored 330 runs in 11 ODIs so far at an impressive batting average of 66. 28 years old, to date has featured for India in 11 ODIs and 17 T20Is for India.
