As Rishabh Pant continues to recover from the tragic accident he suffered last year. Pant is always part of the discussion among the fans and experts. India’s legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar speaking on air in Star Sports Gavaskar said Pant’s absence is a void that will definitely be felt by India players and more so in Tests and added Australia Team must be relieved that Pant is not playing for India.
“Australia is lucky that Rishabh Pant is not there. He would have had a fair bit to say, not necessarily to the batters but certainly to his teammates. Rishabh if you are listening, we are missing you, get well soon,” Gavaskar said.
Pant has been one of India’s most successful batters in this format for the last three or four years. The left-hander was India’s leading run-scorer in Tests last year where the Delhi wicketkeeper batter has already reached legendary status. Pant will miss the upcoming IPL 2023 with Delhi Capitals and most likely miss the ODI world cup to be held in India later this year.
As far as the match is concerned, Australia is struggling with their batting having bowled out for 113 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bowled brilliantly on the morning session of Day 3 to run through Australian batting.
Sunil Gavaskar Praises Axar Patel For His Batting
Legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar has heaped praise on India all-rounder Axar Patel, saying he has been batting cleverly against Australia. Axar Patel was the top scorer for India in the 1st innings, he put up a partnership of over 100 runs for India to take India to 262 runs in the 1st innings. Speaking on Star Sports Gavaskar lauded Axar for his batting efforts.
“Axar Patel has been very positive, understanding that the left-arm spinner’s ball is turning against him, so if he connects it’s going to go for a six. Clever batting from Axar Patel and that is what India will need after tea. India needs to reduce the lead. Australia will maybe end with some lead but India will be looking to keep it as low as possible,” Gavaskar added.
Axar scored a half-century to get India back in the game. Axar Patel has been brilliant for India since he made his test debut scoring crucial runs for India in a difficult situation.
