Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the 1st innings of the second Test sparked a wide range of controversy when Kohli was adjusted LBW by Nitin Menon. Many experts and former cricketers were divided owing to their opinion on Virat Kohli’s controversial dismissal. The topic was widely shared on social media and fans too were involved in the discussion among themselves.

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh was not convinced by the decision of the third umpire to Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the 1st innings of the second test.

“If we talk about his dismissal today, I feel it was not out. It is because if you look at it by the rules, if the ball hits the bat and pad together, then it is not out. Despite having all this technology, such a mistake is beyond me.

“Mistakes happen and an on-field umpire can make the wrong call. But if you’re seeing it on the TV, and the third umpire is giving it out, then that for me is surprising,” Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel.

Harbhajan also reckoned that Kohli has been playing well and if he had continued to bat he would help India to take a massive lead in the 1st innings. After a collapse in batting, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin put up a partnership for India to take the team out of danger in the 1st Innings.

Kohli looked confident at the crease and he was batting on 44 when Matt Kuhnemann’s delivery wrapped him on pad and bat almost simultaneously The third umpire gave the on-field umpire the benefit of the doubt and went with ball-tracking which hit the stumps. Virat Kohli too was seen as unhappy with the decision.

“I will give my vote to Dhoni because, from the very first year, he has played for a single franchise. He has played a huge role in making the franchise successful. The way he has captained his team has been extraordinary. Other captains also have done well and have won the tournament. But I think, overall, my vote will go to Dhoni,”  Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.

IPL 2023 will most probably last season for the CSK skipper and Dhoni will look to finish his playing career on a high note by leading the team to win the title.
