Australian Fast bowling legend Glenn McGrath voiced that Australia lacked a game plan to play in the Indian conditions. The Australian team was hammered in the first two tests of the Border Gavaskar Trophy and India dominated Australia in both tests.

The Australian Team has come under criticism for their team selection and strategy in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy, the MRF Pace Foundation Director, Glenn McGrath said that Australia had no definite plan going into the contest and added they applied two different strategies to the two matches being defensive in the first match and aggressive in the second match.

“I think they haven’t settled on a game plan on how to play spin in India that they are confident with and can execute, In the first Test, they were too defensive, and in the second Test, they were too aggressive. So we will see if they’ve learned from those two matches.” The Australian Legend said

The majority of Australian batters including Usman Khawaja, Matt Renshaw, Steve Smith, and Australian skipper Pat Cummins got out while trying to sweep the ball.

The 53-year-old said Australian batters found ways to gift their wickets and stressed in Indian conditions the batsman should have a solid defense and constantly grind hard for runs to put pressure back on the bowlers and stressed that Australia should be happy if they don’t lose the series 4-0

“They have to find a happy medium and put a price on their wicket. In India, you have to build an inning on solid defense and then look at ways to score and put the pressure back on the bowlers. Australia has a long way to turn things around. If they leave the shores with the scoreline not being 4-0, I think they would have done well,” Glenn McGrath stated.

Australia will take on India on the third test starting tomorrow in Indore, Australia will look to stage come back in the series under the leadership of Steve Smith. Cameron Green and Mitchell are likely to come in place of David Warner and Pat Cummins in the third test.
