Former Indian Cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar believes India will make it into the finals of the World Test Championship irrespective of the result in the fourth and final test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Manjrekar said that Sri Lanka is not capable of pulling off a miracle on New Zealand soil.
Sanjay Manjrekar said it’s brilliant to experience such a kind of match in the world’s largest stadium and added that India will make it to the World Test Championship finals as the Sri Lanka team has a poor record in New Zealand.
“It was a brilliant start and we were right there on the ground, experiencing the vibe at the start. There were so many things going on for this Test match. It’s being played at one of the biggest stadiums in the world. It’s a great setting when people are there, every seat was taken. World Test Championship takes for India, on the verge of getting there. I think India will get there. I don’t think Sri Lanka is capable of upsetting New Zealand,” Manjrekar said.

He further added that there are still a lot of stakes left in this series, as Australia made a comeback in the series with a thumping win over India in the third test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy and it will be interesting to see whether Australia can win this one and draw the series or India can clinch the series 3-1 to qualify for WTC in June.
On the other hand, At the end of Day 1 Sri Lanka is 305-6, with Kusal Mendis scoring a terrific knock of 87 runs before being dismissed by New Zealand skipper Tim Southee. Southee was the best bowler for the Kiwis picking up the important wickets of Kusal Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal.
