Former Indian Skipper Sourav Ganguly said that the Indian team is a different team when their play in home conditions. India cricket team is leading the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) by 2-0 against Australia. India will take on Australia in the third test starting on March 1.
Speaking to PTI, during Delhi Capitals pre-season camp, the former BCCI President said that India is a hard team to beat on home soil, and asserted once the balls start to turn it would be difficult for the visiting teams
“India is a different beast in India. They are a pretty good team all around but in India, they are pretty hard to beat. When it starts turning, they are a better side than anyone,” Ganguly said.
Ganguly continued that India can whitewash this Australian side and stressed that this Australian team will find it too hard to stop it and the problem is Australian team doesn’t have quality players as they had in the past further added Steve Waugh’s team is the best Australian team to tour India.
“Steve Smith is a great player. (David) Warner hasn’t got going, (Marnus) Labuschagne is a good player but these are tough conditions for him as well. The mistake we make with Australian teams is that we think they are Steve Waugh’s Australia but that’s not the case. Different players get tested differently in different conditions.”
Austalia will look to stage a comeback in the series in Indore under stand-in skipper Steve Smith. Followed by test series, both teams will be up against each other for three ODI, first ODI game is scheduled between India and Australia on 17th March at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
Bangladesh cricket Has Grown In The Last 20 Years – Sourav Ganguly
Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly asserted that one should not draw any comparison between IPL and BPL. The former KKR captain said that IPL has come a long way since its inception in 2008–and it is the second-best league in the world, IPL is way ahead in terms of the quality of cricket and the financial strengths of BPL.
Ganguly also lauded BPL as a good league–and he has given his suggestions to improve BPL–and is impressed by the passion of Bangladesh fans for cricket and wants Bangladesh cricket to grow.
Ganguly reckoned that Bangladesh cricket has grown in the last 20 years–and Bangladesh has pulled a few upsets against top-ranked sides. Bangladesh also had a chance of making the knockouts of the 2022 T20 world cup but eventually fell out of favour.
