Former Indian Cricketer Aakash Chopra believes Suryakumar Yadav should play the entire series against Australia despite his poor record in his short ODI career. Surya Kumar Yadav was dismissed for a golden duck by Mitchell Starc in the 1st ODI.

There were many talks around, Suryakumar Yadav’s performance in the ODI format. The number one T20I batter in the world failed to capitalize on the limited opportunity provided to him in the ODI format. Speaking on his youtube channel, Aakash Chopra feels that Suryakumar Yadav will talking point going into the contest.

“Suryakumar Yadav played at No. 4, and KL Rahul was called at No. 5. But Suryakumar Yadav at No. 4, that’s the talking point at this point. No one can match this player in T20 cricket. He is at a different level – up above the world so high, his name is SKY,” Aakash Chopra said.

Aakash Chopra further asserted that the Mumbai batter has not got continuous chances in the ODI format, as Shreyas Iyer was preferred ahead of Surya Kumar Yadav in this format. Shreyas Iyer has done exceptionally well to seal that NO.4 spot for India. The last two matches will be crucial for SKY to prove his worth in this format of the game.

“Firstly, he has not got chances continuously in ODIs. When you want to make a judgment or opinion about any player, please see how many regular chances he is getting and what number he is getting to bat,” he added.

Suryakumar Yadav has scored only 2 half-centuries in the 21 matches he has played so far in ODIs but has been a terrific performer for India in the T20 format scoring three centuries for India. The 32-year-old has so far scored 433 runs in 21 matches at an average of 27.06 and his best score is 64 not out.

Suryakumar Yadav Needs Freedom To Play – Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra asserted Surya Kumar Yadav should play all the matches in the series and said no one should put any unnecessary pressure on him to perform and also added it is more important to allow him to play with more freedom which will bring the best out of him

“Should he play? Firstly, he has to play; he will play this entire series. There is no sense in putting unnecessary pressure because if you put additional pressure on a player like Suryakumar Yadav, he will lose his specialty, which is just the freedom to play,”  Chopra added

Suryakumar Yadav will look to make a mark for India in the final two ODI matches against Australia and Team India will be looking to seal the ongoing three-match series when they take on Australia in the second ODI in Vizag here on Sunday.
