India beat Australia by six wickets in the second test to take a 2-0 lead in the four-match series in Delhi today. Skipper Rohit Sharma (31) and Cheteshwar Pujara, who made 31 not out, helped the hosts reach the 115-run victory target with more than two days to spare.
On early Sunday, Ravindra Jadeja registered a seven-wicket haul while Ravichandran Ashwin bagged three wickets to help India to retain Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Many experts criticised Australia batting in the second innings and none of Australia’s batsmen could not play India’s spin bowling and fell very cheaply. Matthew Hayden, who is part of the Star Sports commentary panel for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy expressed his disappointment over Australia’s batting approach.
“It’s a good option here but you need to know how. Can’t get too far beside the line. Need to come along the line of the ball,” Matthew Hayden on Australia’s sweep shot tactic.

Hayden continued that it was a bad approach to go for the sweep on every ball, Australian batters must have been smart enough to use it.
“Not every ball. It’s part of your arsenal but it also needs to be backed up by smarts. What we’ve seen here is a disaster for Australia. They’ve gone way over the edge in terms of their aggressive play,” Hayden further added.
The majority of Australian batters including Usman Khawaja, Matt Renshaw, Steve Smith, and Australian skipper Pat Cummins got out while trying to sweep the ball.
Besides, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir and India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik too criticised Australia’s batting approach in the second innings.
