Former Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir believes it will be very difficult for Jasprit Bumrah to return with the same kind of rhythm when he makes a comeback to the team. Bumrah, who has been one of the best fast bowlers of the decade is frequently sidelined by injuries.

Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action for nearly eight months. He last played a competitive game in September last year during the home T20I series against South Africa before a back injury ruled him out.

“When such major injuries happen, because I’ve been in the same situation. I had knee surgery, I had only played for two years, and I started facing issues in my knees. I underwent surgery, and it was not managed properly, the rehab was not done well, so I know how difficult it is to return,” speaking to SportsYaari, Sohail Tanvir said.

Sohail Tanvir, who represented Pakistan in two Tests, 62 ODIs, and 57 T20Is is also known as one of the wiliest customers. He also underwent surgery which made his return difficult into the Pakistan team.

“Muscular injuries such as hammies (hamstring) even if it sidelines you for months when you return your body is normal. But when you return from major injuries, for example, knee or back and you’ve gone through surgery, then it’s very difficult. When you start playing again it takes time to regain the old rhythm,” Tanvir added.

Jasprit Bumrah recently underwent back surgery in New Zealand and according to reports If Bumrah’s recovery goes to plan, the right-arm pacer should start bowling in August and be ready in time for the most anticipated 2023 ODI World Cup in October.

Jasprit Bumrah Need Time To Regain The Old Rhythm – Sohail Tanvir

Sohail Tanvir reckoned that it will be difficult for any bowler who is coming back from a major injury to bowl the same rhythm as he used to bowl and stressed the fans might not see the same lethal  Jasprit Bumrah when returns from the injury.

“I’m not sure about Bumrah’s situation but pacers returning after a major surgery need time to regain the old rhythm. I’m not saying pacers don’t reach there, but not immediately. When Bumrah returns then you might not see the old him. Maybe it could take time,” he concluded.

Bumrah’s availability is very crucial for Rohit Sharma-led side in the WTC Final in England on June 7, as he has been the most lethal pacer for Men in Blue, especially overseas.
