IND vs ENG, 1st Test, Day 3: Twitter Reacts To India's Fight Back 1

Virat Kohli-led India gave a strong reply to England’s mammoth first innings total in the first Test at Rajkot. After toiling hard on the field for the first two days, the hosts finally dominated a day as they finished the Day 3 on 319 for 4, still 218 runs behind the visitors’ first innings total of 537 runs.

Resuming the day on 63 for no loss, India lost Gautam Gambhir early. The left-handed batsman, who started the day on 28, could add only one run to his overnight score before being dismissed by Stuart Broad. But then, Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara sent the English bowlers on a leather hunt as they made merry on a pitch that had little to offer to the bowlers. The duo added 209 runs for the second wicket to set a solid platform for the hosts. The partnership was finally broken when Ben Stokes dismissed Pujara. But before that, the local boy scored 124 runs. Vijay also completed his ton and continued to bat comfortably. The Indian team were looking all set to completely dominate the day but the visitors made a comeback by getting rid of Vijay (126) and Amit Mishra(0) towards the end of the day. Now the onus will be on Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane to take India to a safe position in the match when they come out to bat on the fourth day.
