Rishabh Pant scored a stunning century and a fine half-century in the ongoing Test between India and England at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Rishabh Pant has continued to smash records in Test cricket and has added yet achieved yet another incredible feat in the longest format of the game thanks to his impressive display with the bat at Edgbaston. The left-handed batsman was India’s best performer with the bat in the game.

In the first innings, his stunning counter-attacking century helped the tourists recover from a disastrous start to post a big total. Pant scored a 89-ball ton and went on to score 146 to help India recover from 98 for 5 and post 416 in their first innings.

Pant’s impressive display with the bat continued in the second innings too. He walked out to bat when India were in a precarious position once again. Team India were reeling at 75 for 3 before Pant played yet another fine knock to bail the team out of trouble.

He scored a fine fifty and added 78 runs with Cheteshwar Pujara to take the score past the 150-run mark. Jack Leach ended Pant’s stay at the crease when the latter tried to play a reverse sweep but could only edge the ball to the slip fielder. Before departing, Pant scored 57 runs off 86 balls with the help of 8 fours.

Rishabh Pant’s record:

Thanks to his knocks in the Edgbaston Test, Rishabh Pant has now become the first-ever wicketkeeper-batsman from India to hit a century and a fifty in the same Test outside of India. Overall, he is the second India wicketkeeper-batsman to achieve the feat.

Before him, Farokh Engineer had scored a century and a fifty in the same Test. Engineer had achieved the feat against England too but it came at home during the 1973 Mumbai Test. Engineer had scored 121 runs in the first innings before playing a knock of 66 in the second innings.
