IND vs ENG, 3rd Test: Twitter Reacts As Lower-Order Batsmen, Spinners Put India In Driver's Seat 1

India have taken a firm grip on the third Test after reducing England to 78/4 at the end of Day 3.

Trailing by 134 runs, the visitors started off poorly and lost their skipper Alastair Cook with only 27 runs on the board. 12 runs later, Ravichandran Ashwin piled more misery on the visitors by dismissing Moeen Ali. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow tried their best to not give the Indian team another wicket but their partnership was broken when Bairstow edged a Jayant Yadav’s delivery to Parthiv Patel. England’s condition worsened when Ben Stokes returned to the pavilion after scoring only five runs.

Earlier, resuming the day at 371 for 6, India’s lower order batsmen once again came good with the bat to give the hosts a huge advantage in the Test. In reply to England’s first innings total of 283, Virat Kohli’s men were reeling at 204 for 6 and taking a lead was looking like a distant dream. But a 97-run partnership between Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja helped the hosts surpass England’s total. The partnership ended when Ashwin was dismissed for 72 by Stokes. By then, India had scored 301 and their position was further consolidated by another crucial partnership of 80 runs between Jadeja and Jayant Yadav. Both the players completed their half-centuries as India were eventually dismissed for 417.
