Former Indian all-rounder Abhishek Nayar hailed young Indian finisher Rinku Singh for his phenomenal maiden innings in the 2nd T20 game against Ireland. The 25-year-old impressed everyone with his debut innings for India in the shorter format of the game.
The left-handed batter played an instrumental role in the Indian team’s victory against the home side in the 2nd T20 International in Dublin. The Southpaw impressed everyone with his finishing abilities, as he provided the Indian team a much-needed momentum at the death over of the innings as he scored 38 runs off just 21 balls including two sixes and three fours.
During a discussion in Jiocinema, Abhishek Nayar was happy for Rinku Singh, who took up the opportunity to play for the Indian team in International Cricket, and lauded the youngster for his brilliant knock against Ireland and praised him for the calm and composed approach in his game style and credited him for his flawless batting against Ireland in the death overs of the game taking the game deep to final overs.
“I was happy and I was not surprised. I was pleased because he did what he had done everywhere. A lot of times when you start playing international cricket, your mindset changes. But this is his strength. He loves to give himself some time before he plays big shots unless the situation demands otherwise,” Abhishek Nayar said.

“I was very happy that he backed himself and believed that even after playing a run-a-ball, 14 I can capitalize.
“A lot of people won’t believe that. It takes enormous self-belief and Saba would agree that most people at No. 6/7 would come out and start swinging because they think that if they don’t hit straightaway they would look bad.
“But to back yourself for 14 deliveries and then take on the bowler and deliver the result that India desired shows a lot of character,” Abhishek Nayar added.
India’s finisher spot has been vacant after the 2022 T20 World Cup, as Hardik Pandya has moved up the order in the batting order and India will look to groom the young Rinku Singh as the finisher of the Indian team going into the 2024 T20 World Cup next year.
The Character That Rinku Singh Showed That The Transition Is Terrific – Abhishek Nayar
Abhishek Nayar applauded Rinku Singh’s character in the field rather than his good performance with the bat against Ireland and hailed him for showing a lot of maturity in his batting to take the game deep before taking on the bowlers on the game.

“So, for me the performance was good but the character that Rinku Singh showed that the transition is terrific. The maturity and the ease with which he could rotate the singles and then take on the fast bowlers was heartening to see,” Abhishek Nayar added.
The 25-year-old made it into the Indian side following his impressive show for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2023 and the left-hander finisher will look to continue his fine form going into the Asian Games 2023 under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad.
