Team India skipper Virat Kohli has been a prolific-run scorer for India across all three formats and has been churning out records after records.
He has already smashed 32 ODI centuries which is the 2nd highest by a batsman in ODI cricket just after the legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar who is sitting pretty at the top with 49 tons behind his name.
The modern-day great went past yet another milestone during the 3rd and the deciding ODI against New Zealand at the Green Park in Kanpur when he became the fastest to reach 5,000 international runs as a skipper. He went past the likes of former Aussie skipper Michael Clarke, Ab de Villiers and Greg Chappell.
While Kohli brought up the landmark in his 93rd innings, Clarke, ABD and Chappell did it in 109, 110 and 112 innings, respectively.

Kohli is having a ball at the moment and went past the likes of Ricky Ponting in the 1st ODI against the Kiwis to become the 2nd highest century-maker in the history of ODI cricket. Even on Sunday, Kohli has played a terrific knock and has already reached his 32nd ODI century. The pace at which Kohli is scoring at the moment, breaking Tendulkar’s record might well be a formality from here but in reality, 18 more centuries is still a long way to go.
During his brilliant knock, Kohli also became the fastest to reach 9,000 ODI runs. In his 194th innings. The list was earlier headed by Mr 360, AB de Villiers whose tally of 9000 runs came in 205 innings. While Ganguly reached the landmark in 228 innings, Tendulkar achieved the feat in 235 innings.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma also completed his hundred in Kanpur. Also, Virat and Rohit completed their fourth 200 plus stand in ODI’s.
