A sting operation by India Today Tv conducted on MCA pitch curator Pandurang Salgaoncar brought out the case of corruption in Indian cricket AGAIN. An undercover reporter, who possessed to be a bookie, spoke to the curator standing on the pitch of the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium on the eve of the second ODI. Salgaoncar leaked information about the pitch and also offered the undercover reporter to tamper with the pitch accordingly. Committee of Administrators (COA) chief Vinod Rai defended BCCI anti Corruption unit by saying that three-member team cannot be everywhere.
“There were irregularities on all fronts so a full-scale inquiry has been ordered. ACU (headed by former cop Neeraj Kumar) has only three people so they can’t be everywhere.”

Rai also said that further actions will be taken after a full report will be submitted:
“We are looking into the issue and in contact with the concerned officials. We have asked for a detailed report and will act upon it accordingly.”

Other top officials also spoke on the matter, acting secretary of the BCCI Amitabh Chaudhary also spoke on the matter and said that swift measures were taken as soon as the reports came out in the media. He said:
“We have acted swiftly and ensured that there are no loopholes left ahead of the 2nd ODI between India and New Zealand.”

BCCI CEO Rahul Johri also came out and expressed his views out in the public regarding the issue:
“The BCCI is in touch with the MCA and appropriate measures will be taken with regards to the matter. The BCCI will continue to enforce strict measures in case of such misconduct in the future,”
