After hosting a fantastic series against Australia, the Men in Blue will be heading to New Zealand for their first overseas assignment of the year. India, as a team had made an imposing comeback in the second ODI, played at Rajkot and defeated the visitors by 36 runs. Whereas, in the third and the final match of the series, India thrash the visitors by seven wickets.
Skipper Kohli set the perfect rhythm of the match with the three lethal pacers – Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Navdeep Saini. While Shami had been impeccable with wickets throughout the series, he tricked the Aussie batsmen with some nice yorkers. Bumrah limited the visitors from scoring any big runs while Saini reciprocated the same as the two other veteran pacers.
Kohli & his men swiftly chased down the target of 287 runs with 15 balls to spare and defeated Australia by seven wickets. Opener Rohit Sharma scored a century while Kohli and KL Rahul scored gritty-fifties.
Nevertheless, the Men in Blue will now be heading to New Zealand to engage in a month-long series comprised of five T20Is, three one-day international games, and two Test matches. Even last year, India visited the Kiwi’s shores for their first away-assignment of the year. The two teams played five ODIs, keeping in mind the World Cup 2019, and three T20I games. India won the ODI series by 4-1 while they lost the T20I series by 2-1.
And once again, India will be touring New Zealand that will take off with the T20I contest commencing from 24 January. Meanwhile, the ODI series will begin from 5 Feb and the first red-ball game will kick-off from 21 Feb, after having a 3-day practice match.
