On last Sunday (12th January), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) arranged the yearly award ceremony, where they gave 25 awards, including the best performers’ awards for the previous season (2018/19).
The BCCI had already announced the award winners for all the 25 different categories on last Saturday. The right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah won the Polly Umrigar Award (best international cricketer) and Dilip Sardesai Award (highest wickets in Test cricket). Meanwhile, Poonam Yadav won the best international women’s cricketer award.
On the other hand, Mayank Agarwal and Shafali Verma were chosen as the best international debutant men and women’s cricketers respectively.
Former Indian cricketers Krishnamachari Srikkanth (Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award), Dilip Doshi (BCCI Special Award) and Anjum Chopra (BCCI Lifetime Achievement Award for women) won special awards.
