Richard Kettleborough, one of the on-field umpires for the first Test match between India and Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens, didn’t turn up for the third day’s play, as he was suffering from a bad throat. He got replaced by Joel Wilson of West Indies.
There is still no confirmation whether Kettleborough will turn up for the rest of the two days or not.

On day three of the Test match, Wilson got one of his decisions reversed when Sri Lanka reviewed a decision that went against them. It was the 52nd over of India’s innings when Ravindra Jadeja was adjudged not out as when Diluwaran Perera trapped him in front of the stumps. Fielding team was quick to review, and then, the replays showed that Jadeja was out.
Meanwhile, slowly, the Test is inching towards a draw. It’s already the fourth day of the game, and yet, two innings are yet to get over. In fact, Sri Lanka is to get a lead over India, and they would need at least a day to pile up a big lead if they can stand in front of the Indian bowlers.
It is also to be added that rain and bad light have already had much impact on the game and if same continues on the remaining two days, then it would confirm no result from the game. The fourth day of the game will be quite crucial, as India will still be looking to pull off a win from here but for that, they need their bowlers to dismiss Lankan batsmen in him the first session.
In the other news, Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has revealed Mohammed Shami might be on the field tomorrow to bowl. Shami left the ground during the day’s play when he pulled off his hamstring. He failed to complete the over as well.
It was a news of concern for the team, but with Pujara showing positive signs on Shami, it’s good news for the team.
