India continued its overnight dominance with the bat, as the Sri Lankan bowlers found it tough to take wickets.
India finished the day two on a high note, as both the batsmen (Pujara and Vijay) from day one reached their hundreds giving India a prolific start after losing an early wicket.
However, Vijay after making a brilliant 128 got out while playing a sweep and top-edging to the hands of Dilruwan Perera, who was positioned at short fine-leg off Rangana Herath’s delivery.

Virat Kohli played his shots right from the first ball, as he maintained a healthy strike rate in the morning session. He played his shots at ease and right to the pitch of the ball. Virat Kohli reached his 19th Test hundred with a single off Suranga Lakmal, who looked pretty ordinary in the second Test.
Kohli also overtook former Austalia captain Ricky Ponting, as he scored 10th international hundreds in a calendar year as captain. Earlier, Ponting had scored nine centuries in a calendar year as a skipper.

On the other hand, Pujara continued his game rotating the strike and latching on to the loose balls in the morning session. However, Pujara got out seven runs short of what could have been another brilliant 150, as Shanaka sneaks one underneath his bat, as Pujara was a bit slow to bring his bat down. Shanaka seemed quite elated, as he broke Pujara’s defence.

India went into the lunch with 404 for three, as Ajinkya Rahane comes to the crease. He will be eager to beg back to his form in a batting deck.
Here is how the Twitter reacted as India continued their dominance in the morning session of the third day:
