IND vs SL 2017: Harbhajan Singh Takes A Shocking Dig At Sri Lanka
With the cricketers being treated as heroes in this cricket-obsessed country, every action of their goes on to make a big difference in the society and perhaps that is the reason behind Harbhajan Singh deleting his tweet which was aimed at Sri Lankan cricket’s sorry state of affair this year.
Sri Lanka’s performance this year has been nothing short of disaster this year. In the first two months of the year, the Islanders were whitewashed in Tests and ODIs by South Africa. The T20I series win in South Africa and Australia gave some respite, but what followed after that has been nothing less than a nightmare.
Sri Lanka failed to win the home series against Bangladesh and exited the Champions Trophy at the group stage. It was followed by a shocking ODI series loss against Zimbabwe at home before they lost all the nine games (three Tests, five ODIs and one T20I) against India.
A Test series win against Pakistan once again gave them a much-needed respite but their disastrous year hit a new low when they lost all the five ODIs and three T20Is against Pakistan. And with the Islanders being in such poor form, nobody is giving them even an outside chance of posing a tough challenge to India in the upcoming series let along winning a game. However, the Islanders are preparing earnestly to do well in the series. And the fact that they declared on 411 for 6 after the first day’s play in the warm-up game against Board President’s XI is a proof of that.
But their desire of doing well against the world number one side was mocked by none other than India’s veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh.
Speaking after the first day’s play in the practise game, Sri Lanka opener Dimuth Karunaratne had revealed how he was planning to tackle India’s spin duo- Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.
But taking a dig at his comment, Harbhajan tweeted:
Harbhajan would have soon realised his mistake and deleted the tweet immediately.
