Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have engaged in an interesting conversation ahead of the West Indies tour starting today. The Indian selectors and team management have selected a few new sets of Indian players for the next WTC Cycle starting against West Indies on July 12.

 With the Indian senior players being on the wrong side of their 30’s the selectors and management have invested in the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar, and Navdeep Saini in the team. Team management will look to build the team for the next important South Africa and England test series in WTC Cycle.
Speaking on BCCI.tv, Ruturaj Gaikwad recalled the memories of Yashasvi Jaiswal, as he watched the Mumbai youngster playing the Deodhar Trophy taking on the high-quality bowlers followed by his maiden half-century for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, and hailed the southpaw for his massive improvement in the recent times to cut into the Indian team.

“The two instances I remember (of watching Jaiswal) was first when we played in Ranchi in Deodhar Trophy, where a left-hander was just smashing the ball to all parts. The second instance was during the IPL in Dubai where I scored a century and you (Jaiswal) got your maiden IPL fifty.

“I remember our picture and I had an Orange Cap. This time you were pretty close to winning the Orange Cap so I am delighted to see you improve so much in your journey,” Yashasvi Jaiswal said.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has impressed everyone which his fearless approach to batting at the top of the order, taking on the world-class bowlers in IPL 2023. Given his form and confidence, he would be a vital cog for the Indian team in World Cricket.

Recalling the memories of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal said that he was observing to learn from the CSK openers in the domestic cricket and lauded him for keeping things simple in his games and on his maiden call-up to the Indian team, the left-handed opener revealed that he didn’t celebrate his selection, but he was very happy to make it into the India test squad.

“I first heard about you (Gaikwad) when I was playing first-class cricket and your name was making the rounds. Then when I played with you, I observed little things like your process and how you are so calm and someone who keeps things simple. Lots of things for me to keep in mind.”

“I didn’t celebrate too much, by was happy (on maiden Test call-up) because, for me, Test cricket is a true format of the game. Growing up, I always wanted to play Test cricket for India. So now the desire is to do well if I get a chance and prepare well for it,” Yashasvi Jaiswal added.
