Indian primary spinner Yuzvendra Chahal admitted that being dropped from the Indian team for the 2021 T20 World Cup was the saddest moment in his cricketing career. The 32-year-old was dropped from the team as they went with inexperienced Rahul Chahar and Varun Chakravarthy for the marquee event in Dubai.
Chahal is a key figure in the Indian bowling lineup since his debut for India and has been an attacking option for India, especially in the middle overs, and has been a match-winner with the ball on several occasions but could not find a place on the Indian team for the 2021 T20 World Cup, which eventually proved to be costly for the side as they could not go past group stage in the mega event.
Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube channel, Yuzvendra Chahal opened up about his tough phase in International Cricket and revealed that he cried after being left out of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup and said that his wife helped him a lot to come out of the disappointment and focus on the cricket to come in the IPL 2021.
“I don’t cry a lot, but I went to the bathroom and cried a little. When I was not picked up for the 2021 T20 World Cup, I felt the saddest. I had to play IPL in Dubai at that time. She [wife] was with me that time. Next day, we had to catch a flight to Dubai. We had to go there to continue the IPL matches that were postponed due to Covid,” he added.

“We also had to quarantine for a week. Otherwise, you could have gone out to relax. The best thing was she was with me, so I could control my anger. If she would not have been there, I would have been more frustrated,” Yuzvendra Chahal said.
Though Yuzvendra Chahal has performed exceedingly well for India, he somehow miss out on the big events for India due to the playing combination and even though he was part of the squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup he could not find a place in the playing 11.
I Never Ask Anyone Why I Was Not Picked – Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal revealed that during the quarantine before the second half of the IPL in 2021, he used to exercise and watch some movies alongside his wife to spend their time and admitted that it was tough to accept the fact of being dropped from the team, as he could not ask anyone about his exclusion in the team.

“She [Chahal’s wife] was with me. We used to exercise together. We watched some chilled-out movies. I was feeling strange because Virat [Kohli] was the captain [of the Indian team] and I was playing under Virat there as well [in IPL]. But I never ask anyone why I was not picked. Have never asked,” Yuzvendra Chahal added.
The Rajasthan Royals spinner would be a vital player for the Indian team in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The Indian spinner has been in fine form in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League, where he surpassed Dwayne Bravo to become the highest wicket-taker in the cash-rich league.
