Indian veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has picked up his choice of India’s playing 11 for the three-match ODI series against West Indies starting today in Barbados. Team India will begin their preparation for the all-important Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023 with the Caribbean tour, as the team will try out new faces in the series to test them ahead of the mega event.

With ODI World Cup set to be played at home, This series will be crucial for the Indian team to fix their playing 11 for the marquee event in the country. As for the team concerned Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja have already sealed their spot in the playing 11 with few players fighting for their spots in the team.

Dinesh Karthik feels that Suryakumar Yadav should be part of the Indian World Cup squad despite his poor performance in ODI Cricket and believes that he is somebody who can take away the game for the opponents in no time stating the example of his form in the IPL 2023 and reckons that he is a special player in the Indian team.

“For me, the biggest person who can take home a lot in terms of confidence and in terms of giving confidence to the selectors as well, and as someone who is a world-class player but strangely hasn’t put a mark in ODI cricket, is Suryakumar Yadav. He has had quite a lean run, in the last series against Australia, he got three ducks, and post that, we also saw what he can do in the IPL,” he said.

“He is somebody who can take the game away in a whiff of a breath. That is how special he is. He is, in my mind, one of the best T20 players, and I have no doubt that he should be part of the World Cup squad,” Dinesh Karthik maintained.

There were many talks around, Suryakumar Yadav’s performance in the ODI format. Shreyas Iyer was preferred ahead of Surya Kumar Yadav in this format. Iyer has done exceptionally well to seal that NO.4 spot for India, but his injury has opened the doors for the Mumbai Indians batter in the playing 11.

Suryakumar Yadav has failed spectacularly in the last ODI series against Australia. In the three ODIs, he was out for a golden duck in all three games against the formidable Australian bowling attack.

The failures have only extended his unimpressive run in the 50-over format and the 360-degree batter will look to do well against the Men in Maroon to make his case strong for the World Cup later this year.
