Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan feels that it is up to the individual to react on dealing with disappointment and sitting out of the team and revealed that he makes constant efforts to keep himself ready for the upcoming opportunities. The 25-year-old got to wait for his opportunity to make his debut for the Indian team in all three formats of the game.
The Left-handed batter has impressed everyone with his batting and wicket-keeping skills in the two-match series. The southpaw scored an unbeaten 52 off 34 balls after moving up to No. 4 as he blasted four fours and two sixes in the 2nd innings.
Speaking to the media, Ishan Kishan said that every individual is different in their approach to handling disappointments and waiting for the chance to play for the country and revealed that he appreciates those who get the chance to represent the country at the highest level as he knows the difficulty of getting into the team and dealing the pressure and expectations to perform for the country.
“I think every individual is different. It might be frustrating for some, but someone else can take it as a challenge… that ‘I am not doing enough to get to that level,” he added.
“I appreciate if someone else gets selected on the side and performs because I know how tough this game is, how you are tested mentally, how difficult it is to give that performance when there is so much expectation and pressure. So, I make an effort whenever I’m off or not playing that I concentrate on my practice and prepare myself that whenever I get the opportunity, I give my best,” Ishan Kishan said.
The Left-handed batter brings versatility in the batting order and left-right combination into the play and the youngster has done a pretty decent job for the Indian team in the white ball format as he has smashed 510 runs at a good average of 42.5 in 14 ODIs, including an outstanding double hundred against Bangladesh and will look to continue his fine form in all three formats of the game.
