Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer urged the Indian team management to include youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal for the third T20 game against West Indies on Tuesday and wants the team to give a break to wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan, who is going through some poor form in T20 Internationals.
Ishan Kishan has regularly featured in ODI and T20I series for India in recent times, he had a mediocre run in T20 cricket. The Left-handed youngster has played 29 games for the Men in Blue scoring only 686 runs at an average of 24.5 failing to make an impact for the team opening the batting for India.
Speaking on Espncricinfo, Wasim Jaffer said that Ishan Kishan has struggled in the shorter format of the game, and the team wants him to give a break from the T20 cricket as he might make come back stronger after some time.
“We know that Ishan Kishan has struggled in the T20 internationals, give him a break. He might come back stronger when he plays next,” Wasim Jaffer said.
Ishan Kishan is likely to have sealed his spot in the Indian team for the ODI World Cup following his brilliance in the three-match ODI series as the southpaw has amassed 617 runs at a good average of 44.07 in 16 ODIs but his performance in T20 cricket has drawn a wide range of criticism.

Wasim Jaffer said that he would be youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal in the T20 cricket as he brings in fearless approach batting at the top order and reckons that he has the ability to take on the spinner and fast bowlers at ease and believes that he could be breath of fresh air in the team just like Tilak Varma.
“I would pick Yashasvi Jaiswal without a doubt just because he brings that fearlessness. He plays spin well and his batting against fast bowling is exemplary. He’s right at the peak of his game, high on confidence, so why not throw him in the mix and see what you get? He’s got runs in Tests and he’s looking for an opportunity. You might get a breath of fresh air like you did with Tilak Varma, so why not?” Wasim Jaffer added.
Yashasvi Jaiswal made it into the Indian team following a terrific IPL season with the Rajasthan Royals and a domestic season with Mumbai. The Left-handed opener displayed excellent composure, as the youngster showed a lot of grit and determination to score his maiden century in International cricket and can be a valuable addition to the team in T20 cricket.
