Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour hailed the Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma for their calm and composed knock on a difficult pitch to put the team in a comfortable position in the game. The opening pair added a 229-run partnership in tough conditions at Dominica.

Both the openers scored a century against the West Indies on Day 2, as they showed a lot of grit and determination to score runs on the wickets which were on the slower side, the openers played equally well against the pacers and spinners to score runs, as the Men in Maroon used nine bowling options to pick up the wickets of the Indian batters.

Speaking to the Broadcaster ahead of the Day 3 play,  Vikram Rathour was happy with the all-round performance of the team despite losing the toss, as the Indian bowlers dominated the West Indies to Day 1 to bundle them out for 150 runs and credited Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma for their gritty knock on the 1st innings so far, as they adapted very well to the conditions at Dominica.

“We have had a good game so far. We lost the toss but our bowlers did well on this surface which has looked good for batting. The batters have then stepped up,” Vikram Rathour said.

“It was not an easy wicket to bat on. The ball was holding a bit and the outfield is heavy. Credit to Jaiswal for adapting to the conditions. Rohit was very good as well. He adapted to the conditions very well,” he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a memorable debut in International Cricket as he scored 171 runs in the 1st innings of the game, on tough conditions in West Indies and the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma returned to his usual best in International cricket following a poor WTC final and IPL 2023 and the team will look to continue their fine form going into next test.
