Indian middle order Hanuma Vihari did not find a reason for being dropped from the Indian test team following the one-off test against England in 2022. Vihari is no longer a part of the Indian Test squad, but he was a regular in the team since 2019, as he performed exceptionally well in the domestic circuit to earn his spot in the Indian team.

Speaking to Indian Express, Hanuma Vihari admitted that he was disappointed with his snub from the Indian team and revealed that he found no reason behind his exclusion from the Indian team and said that no selector or team management members contacted him about his place in the team and added that he focuses on playing for any team in domestic level, as he wants to win a championship with domestic teams.

“Definitely, there was a disappointment, I didn’t find a reason why I was dropped and it was the only thing that was bothering me. Nobody really contacted me and told me the reasons why I was dropped. It took some time and I have gone through ups and downs and I’m not worried about it now”.

“I’ve put aside my personal side of things and I don’t take too much stress about whether I’m in the Indian team or not. There are other matches to win and it is about winning the trophies,” Hanuma Vihari said.

The 29-year-old has been dealing with a few injuries lately and had a disappointing domestic season for Andhra with the bat last season. A good domestic season with the bat for Andhra would help the veteran to make a comeback into the Indian test side.

That’s All You Can Do As A Sportsman – Hanuma Vihari

Hanuma Vihari believes that he has done well for the team in the given opportunity and said that he is trying to get better in the upcoming season and reckons that he can make a comeback into the Indian side taking inspiration from the Mumbai batter Ajinkya Rahane to make it into the Indian team.

“I thought whenever I got a chance, I did my best. Maybe my best was not good enough for the Indian team. But again, I will try to keep getting better. That’s all you can do as a sportsman,” Hanuma Vihari added.

Vihari will aim to make a step closer to the Indian Test squad by performing well in the upcoming Duleep Trophy for South Zone and Andhra in the domestic season and will be keen to make it into the Indian team for the next WTC Cycle.
