Former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath believes that the Indian team should not be too concerned about their loss against Australia in the World Test Championship final as these kinds of things are bound to happen in high-pressure games in ICC events.
Team India came into the tournament with high expectations with many fans and experts believing that the team has a really good chance of ending their ICC title drought over the last decade or so, as the team won their last ICC title in 2013 under the leadership of legendary MS Dhoni in England, where the result did not go in the favour of Rohit Sharma-led side.
As quoted by the PTI, Former Australian Cricketer Glenn McGrath feels that sometimes these kinds of things can happen to any team in different conditions, as the Indian team failed to adapt to the England conditions after playing two months long IPL in India.

”Sometimes, it can happen like that. Yeah, conditions in England are a lot different from what Indian cricket has been playing in. Sometimes that happens that way, it’s called that bit of dressing room pressure,” Glenn McGrath said.
India suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Australia as they lost the encounter by 209 runs, without giving real fight on the final day of the game, as many believed that Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli would try to play their skin out to chase down the total in Kennington Oval.
Both Teams Haven’t Played A Lot Of Test Cricket – Glenn McGrath
Glenn McGrath feels that both the teams haven’t played test cricket off-late, after the completion of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023, and said that everyone expected Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane to put on match-winning on the final day, which did not happen as Australia bowled exceptionally well in the 1st session to bowl the Indian completely out of the contest.

”Both teams haven’t played a lot of Test cricket lately but that’s the way it goes. You get on a bit of a roll going into that last day, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane needed to put on a big partnership. If you lose an early wicket, that can happen. It’s a one-off Test match. I wouldn’t be too concerned,” Glenn McGrath added.
With India’s defeat against Australia, many cricket experts feel that the Indian team needs a massive overhaul going into the next World Test Championship cycle and expects Youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar, and Sarfaraz Khan to make it into the Indian squad for the forthcoming series against West Indies.
