Indian Speedster Jasprit Bumrah is set to make his return to the Indian side for the Ireland T20I series just before the all-important Asia Cup and World Cup. The 29-year-old bowled 10 overs in two spells against the Mumbai batters in a practice match on Friday alongside Prasidh Krishna.
The right-arm pacer has not played any competitive cricket since September last year. His last appearance for Team India came during the T20I series against Australia before he was sidelined owing to a back injury. Bumrah had undergone surgery for a recurring back niggle in New Zealand in March and has been undergoing rehabilitation at the NCAS and may very well be at his peak fitness when he returns to the blues.
Earlier Shedding light on the Indian pacer’s return, Rohit Sharma believes that Bumrah’s experience will be crucial for the team ongoing into the World Cup but is not sure about his return to the team during the Ireland tour and asserted that he needs to play more matches to achieve full fitness coming into the Indian team.
“He (Bumrah) has loads of experience and that experience will be crucial for us, He is coming back from a long injury and I don’t know whether he will play in the Ireland T20Is. But we will try to give him as much game time as possible before the World Cup,” Rohit Sharma said.
India is scheduled to play three T20Is on their tour of Ireland and it was expected that Jasprit Bumrah might be given a chance to test himself out in the international arena in that series.
The Speedster’s availability will be crucial for Indian Team in the ODI World Cup 2023, India’s team failed to win a single ICC trophy since 2013 and the pacer offers a different flavour to the bowling unit alongside Mohammed Siraj and Mohammad Shami as he picks up wicket crucial juncture for the team.
