Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer believes Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah will have an important role in the ODI World Cup later this year. The Right arm pacer has been India’s best bowler across all three formats since his debut for the Men in Blue.
It is reported that Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be back in the Indian colours in the T20 series against Ireland starting in August to get fully fit for the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023. The decision to include him in the Ireland tour will be based on his body fitness in the upcoming days.
Speaking on Jiocinema, Wasim Jaffer feels that Jasprit Bumrah would be a key player for the Indian team in a marquee event later this year as his absence from the team was felt during the 2022 T20 World Cup and 2023 WTC Final and also questioned whether the Indian pacer will be able to find his usual rhythm in the International Cricket.

“He is a huge part of the bowling attack. I feel he will have an extremely important role in the World Cup. We are missing him in death bowling. We have missed him this entire year. However, he needs to come back to fitness, and there will be a question mark whether he will be able to bowl the same way, at the same pace,” Wasim Jaffer said.
The Speedster’s availability will be crucial for Indian Team in the ODI World Cup 2023, India’s team failed to win a single ICC trophy in the last ten years, despite doing well in the league stage, failing on the important knockout games in the marquee events.
Jasprit Bumrah Will Remain The Leader Of The Pack In The World Cup – Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer said that Jasprit Bumrah is an extremely important player for India not only in the 50-over format but all three formats as he has won many games for India from tough situations and reckons that the pacer will be the leader of the pack in the mega event as his fitness would be crucial for the team’s success in India.

“He is extremely important, not for one, but all formats. However, keeping the World Cup in mind, he is a very important player. He has won India so many matches in tough conditions. He is a senior player as well. Bumrah will remain the leader of the pack in the World Cup. So it is extremely important for him to get fit,” Wasim Jaffer added.
Jasprit Bumrah is likely to spread head India’s bowling attack alongside Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj as the primary pacer in the team and they will look to do well for the side in the marquee event later this year.
